Online Chalk Lettering Class – Now Enrolling

I know I’ve been teasing the coming of an online chalk lettering class for a while now, but it makes me so happy to say that the time has come! My intro to chalk lettering class is launching in partnership with Brit + Co on April 13th!

Chalk_Lettering_EClass_016This course is perfect for anyone who has swooned over chalkboards at restaurants, coffee shops, weddings or on Pinterest. Also, if you own The Complete Book of Chalk Lettering, this class will be a nice complement. I will walk you through each technique via a video that you can watch again and again (it’s yours to keep!)

Brit + Co also makes it super easy by offering a class companion supply kit, which includes a chalkboard, my favorite white chalk, felt eraser,  microfiber cleaning cloth, and more.

Chalk_Lettering_EClass_042If you’ve wanted to learn how to make your own pieces of chalk art, but you’re not sure where to start, this class is sure to help. The best part? Good handwriting isn’t a prerequisite! Even if you’ve developed a style of hand lettering with other mediums, this class will introduce you to the nuances and unique features of working with chalk. And hey, if you mess up, you can always erase!

Chalk_Lettering_EClass_007In my online chalk lettering class, you’ll learn how to:

  • ♥ Make your own chalkboards
  • ♥ Write out words and phrases in three basic lettering styles
  • ♥ Draw simple chalk illustrations and embellishments to complement your lettering
  • ♥ Design, finish and polish a chalk art layout with shadows and dimension
  • ♥ After taking the class, you will be equipped with a new set of skills to help bring out your inner chalk artist.

Like I said, the class launches on April 13th, but  pre-registration is now open!  Follow this link to sign up! Everyone who pre-registers from now until April 12th will get the class at a reduced price of $25 (originally $29).

Chalk_Lettering_EClass_001I hope you will join me for this class! I can’t wait!

Hello, I’m French, so can I subscribe to your online chalk lettering class from France ? Do Brit + Co send the class companion supply kit to France ? Is the access to your class unlimited ? Thanks for your answers.

Hi there! Yes, you can certainly take the class from France! Unfortunately, Brit + Co does not ship the class kit internationally at this time, but you will still be able to enjoy the class. Hope that helps! 🙂

So that means Canada as well, right? Even though your shop is shipping here now? Just want to confirm 🙂

        • Reply Valerie McKeehan April 11, 2016 at 12:10 pm

          Hi Lisa!
Yep, you can certainly take the class in Canada! And yes, we ship everywhere internationally through lilyandval.com. The class kit ships directly from Brit + Co, which is why shipping is limited there. 🙂 Hope that helps!!
          Xo,
          Valerie

Trying to register but it seems like it is not going through? I have not received anything in my email.

    • Reply Valerie McKeehan April 11, 2016 at 12:12 pm

Hi Cris! Did you fill out the form on Brit + Co? If so, they will send you an email with your discount when the class is live on April 13th. Can’t wait! 🙂

Is your online class the same content as the big picture class?

    • Reply Valerie McKeehan April 11, 2016 at 12:08 pm

      Hi Nancy!
Thanks for your question – I’ll be sharing my tips and tricks for chalk art, which are the same as the big picture class. However, we will be walking through a brand new project, so if you would like to work through that step-by-step, I highly recommend the class! You’ll also receive a download of the final project. 🙂 Let me know if you have any other questions!
      xo,
      Valerie

Need to know more about class – will it be taught live to us on line?
How will questions we have be addressed?
What is the timing? What if we don’t keep up?
What chalkboard do we need to participate? What is a good board to buy? Give us details, where to shop? Will we receive a hardcopy of your book?

    • Reply Valerie McKeehan April 11, 2016 at 12:06 pm

The class is not a live class- you will receive access to a video that was recorded and can watch it at your own pace! The video is yours to keep so you can go back and reference as many times as you like or come back to any parts you want to revisit again and again. 🙂 Also, in the class I will address making your own chalkboards – I love to DIY mine especially when you want something larger, but the chalkboard that comes with the class is very nice quality. The book is not sold with the class, however, you can purchase a signed copy as per my comment below! (We are waiting on the second printing to arrive.) If you have any questions, I’m happy to help! 🙂

Forgot to mention – there is a Complete Book of Chalk Lettering up for grabs to one person who pre-registers for the class! Thought I’d mention that as well!

  • Reply Ethel Alderson April 11, 2016 at 10:50 am

What is contained in the kit? Exactly?

I am excited but have many questions. I also do not own a chalk board!!!!
Want to buy a good one, so waiting for your details to my former question (above)
I have been UNABLE to buy the book from Amazon or other local bookstores.

How much is the companion kit and how do we get it?

    • Reply Valerie McKeehan April 11, 2016 at 11:59 am

Hi Jennifer!! The companion kit will be $29 and available when the class launches on April 13th! Can’t wait! 🙂

      • Reply Jennifer April 11, 2016 at 7:20 pm

Thanks!! And on the Brit + Co website, it says there is a 15% discount if you get the kit and the class together…Does that just happen whenever they send you the link that the class is live? I’m just confused how/when we pay. I did fill out the form on Brit + Co.

        • Reply Valerie McKeehan April 12, 2016 at 3:11 pm

Yes! So you will be receiving an email from Brit+Co that the class is live on Wednesday (tomorrow) at the lower price $25 instead of $29. And if you decide to bundle the class and kit together, you’ll receive 15% off the purchase. You will be able to pay at that time. Let me know if you have any other questions!
