Recipes are a big part of the heart behind what we do at Lily & Val. They always have been – even back in the beginning days when I was hand painting custom recipes signs. I always loved hearing the stories behind your most precious recipes because so many of my own favorite memories involve food.
I think it all goes back to the simple, ordinary things in life and how these things become big things when we look back. One of our mantras is “the fondest memories are made when gathered around the table.” I truly believe this!

You guys! Loose recipe cards are something I’ve wanted to create for the longest time! Each card features hand-drawn and hand-lettered elements. There are 7 designs to choose from and they come in packs of 15.
Summer Prints
We added 4 new prints to our library today! The Old Fashioned and Pimm’s Cup recipe illustrations are two of my most requested cocktails and I’m thrilled to offer them! The Arnold Palmer is not only the perfect summertime drink but also a nod to our neighbors in Latrobe, PA where Arnold Palmer himself was from.

How can one have just one favorite recipe?!?!? I mean I can have a favorite casserole or favorite side dish or even maybe favorite dessert (although that one is hard too).
I guess my favorite recipe is a pork stuffing recipe because it reminds me of my grandparents. And also because it took me and my mom forever to get it right. Lots of tweaking, because they didn’t write it down.

Love this new collection! My favorite drink recipe from the summer cocktail prints has to be the Pimm’s Cup. My favorite recipe of all time, however, is my family’s red cake with a mock whipped frosting. It’s always a hit and makes me think of my grandmother whenever I’m baking.

I’m a first generation Cuban American and keeping the delicious recipes alive and in the family is so very important to me. I really hope to have not only the recipes, but my grandmothers handwriting as a way to preserve her love for cooking. Some of my best memories are in my grandparents home sharing a meal so I LOVE that you put such importance on recipe cards and the like!
